A global Odoo platform for the international companies of ORIS

CONSENSO is supporting ORIS with the international Odoo rollout for its worldwide trading companies. In the USA, existing accounting and warehouse solutions were replaced and purchasing, inventory, barcode processes, shipping and finance were connected in a single shared ERP platform.

At a glance

Initial Situation

The international companies of ORIS worked with differing local ERP, accounting and warehouse solutions. This produced processes and data sets that were separate from one another, along with different ways of working in each country.

In the USA, for example, QuickBooks was used for accounting and Rapid Inventory for warehouse management. Deliveries from the Swiss headquarters had to be processed further in the local company and in some cases entered manually as purchase orders.

At the same time, ORIS needs a solution for the international rollout that both enables standardised global processes and accommodates local requirements for accounting, tax, sales, warehousing and compliance.

Replacing the central ERP system in Switzerland entirely is not intended. Odoo therefore has to work reliably alongside ProConcept and other central systems.

Solution with Odoo

Together with ORIS, CONSENSO developed a standardised Odoo baseline for the international trading companies. The rollout is proceeding step by step and initially focuses on companies with their own local trading, warehouse and finance processes.

ORIS USA was the first company migrated to the new platform. QuickBooks and Rapid Inventory were replaced and the core processes for accounting, purchasing and warehousing were brought together in Odoo.

An interface connects ProConcept at ORIS Switzerland with the Odoo environments of the international companies. When a delivery from Switzerland to a country organisation is triggered, the relevant delivery information is transferred to Odoo and created there as a purchase order.

When the goods arrive, the local company can confirm the physical goods receipt directly in Odoo. The watches are captured through barcode and serial number processes and taken into local inventory. This removes a substantial part of the manual data entry in international order processing.

FedEx and UPS were integrated for shipping to retailers and other recipients. Shipping information can therefore be processed from within the operational process.

Alongside the trading and logistics processes, finance and selected HR processes are also represented in Odoo. Further work includes CRM and a B2B portal for collaboration with trading partners.

About the company

ORIS is an independent Swiss watch manufacturer based in Hölstein. Since its founding in 1904, the company has focused on the development of mechanical watches.

The international country organisations source their products from the Swiss headquarters and sell them in their respective markets through specialist retailers, department stores, boutiques and other sales channels. Depending on the company, they also operate their own local warehouses from which retailers and points of sale in that market are supplied.

This international structure places high demands on purchasing, warehousing, distribution, accounting and the collaboration between the Swiss headquarters and the local organisations.
