Integrated Odoo trading processes and automated product data for the BSP Handwerker-Shop
At the BSP Handwerker-Shop, CONSENSO connects sales, point of sale, purchasing, inventory, the web shop and core finance and HR processes in Odoo. A custom-developed import solution processes recurring supplier catalogues and updates products, prices, variants, attributes, copy and images.

Initial Situation
Suppliers provide their product information in differing catalogue and file structures. This data does not directly match the format needed for processing in Odoo.
Without automated import logic, the supplier data would have to be prepared manually for every update, adjusted in Excel and then imported into the ERP system again. And it is not only simple product numbers and prices that have to be considered.

A price may refer to a single unit, a pack, a partial quantity or a defined number of units, for example. Such differences have to be interpreted correctly and translated into the Odoo product and price units.
The existing data also contained products that were no longer available or had already been archived. Taking over all legacy data unchecked would therefore not have produced a reliable product foundation.
Solution with Odoo
CONSENSO introduced Odoo as an integrated platform for the core trading and back-office processes of the BSP Handwerker-Shop.
Sales take place both at the point of sale in the store and through conventional quotations and customer orders. Sales staff can create quotes, select products and check the availability of the items required.
Purchasing and inventory are connected directly to the sales processes. Products can be delivered from the company's own stock or procured from the relevant suppliers. Dropshipping processes are also supported for suitable items.
A central part of the solution is the custom-developed product import automation. For each supplier, it can be defined once how the data provided maps onto the Odoo product structure.
As long as the supplier does not fundamentally change the structure of its catalogue, this mapping can be reused for later updates. New catalogue versions therefore do not have to be prepared from scratch with every delivery.
On re-import, the solution recognises existing products and updates the relevant information. New products can be prepared in a structured way for creation in Odoo, or created directly.
The import logic covers not only product numbers and prices but also descriptions, attributes, variants, quantity conversions, discount groups and images. Additional rules can be defined for individual suppliers — for example to supplement short product descriptions with higher-level group copy.
